Show December Brings Slight Thaw Last Week in Weather A December thaw featured the 7-day weather period ending end-ing Monday evening, Dec. 15. Average afternoon high for the week was 14 degrees above the freezing point. The period started off with a two-day snowstorm which totaled to-taled almost three-tenths of an inch of pure water. Roads and sidewalks were really slippery slip-pery on the morning of Dec. 10 and service stations were busy putting on snow tires. Old man Inversion moved in again following the storm and by last night pockets of fog, smog, and smoke were a hazard haz-ard to drivers in Salt Lake Valley. High clouds covered Utah Valley early Tuesday morning. Out side it was 30 degrees and the barometer was rising slightly at 30.15. Chance that a storm from the northwest might blow the inversion out within a couple of days, was the prediction. Statistics for the week ending end-ing at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15. Date High Low Pre.
