Show 20 FLYING scholarships OFFERED AT B A C an opportunity to learn to fly a course which would cost it if taken privately is being offered ai a scholarship to twenty students or southern utah by the branch agricultural ri college in cooperation with the civil aeronautical authority of the national government it was announced during the week by director henry the course begins with the fall at the B A C september 15 coordinator edwin L peterson Pc lerson states that anyone in southern utah with proper qualifications will be con considered considene d for the twenty appointments point ments applications should tc be forwarded to him at the college immediately he outlines the qualifications ficat ions as follows men between I 1 the ages of 19 and 28 who can pass a commercial physical examination and who have completed two years of college work if they are not en rolled in a college if they are now enrolled in a college they mu must t have completed only one year of scholastic training the students who qualify fr for these scholarships and complete the course are assured their private pilots license this is an opportunity which comes once in a lire time mrs peterson reports while the world is at war the united states must strengthen its air defense both civilian and military and trained pilots are badly needed but war or not aviation has a great future and all young men would do well to learn to fly mr peterson said in explaining the opportunities port unities offered by the C A A training for future pilots there is a possibility that spring aprin 9 quarter a secondary training course will be added according to flight contractor morris roberts mr roberts stated that this would enable students to obtain a as flying rating and to add 55 hours of advanced flying time to their record this course would be open to any student who has successfully fassl passed the primary course and holds his private flying license |
