Show COUNTY FARMERS URGED TO INSURE WHEAT CROP I 1 iron county tanners farmers who intend to plant winter wheat were warned today by J M palmer chairman of the county AAA committee commit tei that august 30 is the deadline for making application for insurance on their 1942 wheat crops he urged that growers of winter wheat protect their incomes with all risk insurance by guaranteeing themselves at least a 75 percent normal crop all risk insurance protects the farmer against all unavoidable crop hazards including hail rust smut insects flood fire frost winterkill drouth and rodents premiums on this insurance can be paid in one of several differ different en t ways all of which have been provided rr to held the farmers A grower may pay the cash equivalent of the number of bushels required to insure the crop at the time he applies for the insurance ile he may pay premiums on a new agreement plan in which payments can be made in small payments when he has the or in a lump sum any time between the time the application is made and august 11 1942 if the premiums are not paid by that time the amount will be deducted from any indemnity the farmer may receive or from his AAA payment or his wheat loan these deductions will be the cash equivalent of the wheat premiums since all premiums and indemnities are calculated in terms of bushels of wheat reserves to pay the in are held in wheat not cash mr palmer said this year when an owner or operator P insures one farm in a county this automatically brings all other farms in which he has an interest into the insurance program also the farmer need make only one application regardless of how many farms he insures an application for insurance also is an indication that the grower in tends to cooperate in the 1942 farm and places him in a position to receive the benefits of the national cooperative farm plan for better agriculture |
