Horses can be hurt more seriously with loose wire than with tight wire. Tight wire might snap, freeing the horse; whereas, loose wire will drag and possibly cause the horse to spook and thus causing ' worse injuries. -. . . .' . - .'. As you drive around the valley you will notice good and bad fences. Keeping . their good and bad points in mind when building your fence will save you alot of headache and expense, now and in the future. By the way, I want you to be aware of a 'beat the rush' spring special on riding lessons, normally $80 for ten , hours, now for the price of $60. Call for farther details. Happy Spring. What kind of fences do you have for your horses? Have you gone to any thought as to safe, practical fencing? To fence safely is expensive in the beginning but very inexpensive in the long run. The 'dividends are horses without cuts and scars, safe from traffic and gives you piece of mind. If you do not own your own land you won't want to spend a lot of money for good fencing. There is an alternative. alterna-tive. Electric fencing is inexpensive ; and moveable. For instance, if there is an, already existing fence but in poor repair, you can run electric on the inside to keep your horses from the bad fence. Make use of the posts already there and put your insulators on them. Then run your wire and hook on to the battery and control box. An old bucket over the battery and control box will protect it from the weather". Be sure and run a ground from the battery into the dirt to make a better connection. Instructions Instruc-tions from the control box are self explanatory. Check your 'fence' daily to make sure the power is going and that the wires are up connected properly. Another advantage of this fence is that it is so moveable, you can graze your horses in small areas by moving this fence. Since the wire is so hard to see I suggest hanging a few pieces of cloth along it to make it more visable. If you want to keep , animals out of your property . you should put the wire, boards, whatever, on the outside of the posts so that animals have to push into it, against the posts. If you want to keep animals in your place, do just, the opposite. So many people build fences that are aesthetically pleasing but not functional. . Posts are the mainstay of the , . fence and act as additional " streneth and support. Wire |
