Show Circo, Parkin, Tebbs, Sarazine take trophies in Salt Lake Tribune Classic at Snowbird by Dave Adler The Park City Ski Team captured three victories and ParkWest earned one Saturday in the 34th annual Salt Lake Tribune Classic at Snowbird. Heather Circo, Jason Parkin and Danny Tebbs collected first-place trophies for the Park City team, and Beth Sarazine garnered a winner's medal for ParkWest on the icy and rutted Wilbere Ridge, which saw 240 skiers brave the cold and windy conditions. In winning the girl's Junior IV (ages 10-11) class, Heather claimed the lone first-place trophy for the Park City ladies. Her arch-rival, Hope Rich of Ogden Valley, was runner-up, while Jennifer Rollins of Solitude was third. Park City's Star Clarke and Jennifer Rollins of Solitude was third. Park City's Star Clarke and Jennifer Vance finished fourth and fifth respectively. Led by Jason Parkin, the Park City boys swept the first four places in the IV category. Parkin blistered the course in a time which was five seconds faster than runner-up, Mike Fleming. Chad Lockey was third and Carl Anderson fourth. Teammates John Bloomberg, Ehlias Louis, Kyle Lewis, Chris Lockey and Brian Nelson finished sixth, ninth, 15 th, 17th and 20th respectively. Kelly Frame, of ParkWest, finished 10th. In the JIII (ages 12-13) boy's division, Danny Tebbs took the lead on the first run and never relinquished it in winning the crown. Morton Scramstad and Mark Haycock Hay-cock of Snowbird finished second and third. Danny's teammates, C.J. Baltz, Carter Gregory and Ross Toelke finished fourth, fifth, and ninth, respectively. Seven-year-old Beth Sarazine of ParkWest, in her first year of ski racing, showed experience isn't everything in winning the championship champion-ship in the girl's Junior VI (ages eight and under) division. In other action, Stacy Brown of Ogden Valley, edged Cristin Circo for first -place in the girl's JV (ages nine and under) competition. Kay-leen Kay-leen Baltz of Park City was fourth. In the JV boy's event, Olin Glenne of Park City moved into the winner's circle for the first time this year with a strong second-place showing. T.J. Jebco of Ogden Valley was the winner. Park City's Tav Streit was third, and teammates Chad Moyes and Dylan Rothwell were ninth and 10th. With pernnial winner Shannon Nobis vacationing in Mexico, the girl's JIII division was thrown wide open. Falesha Favero of Ogden Valley won the event by nearly three seconds ahead of Essie Doilney of . Park City. Michelle Leschorn, a new arrival on the Park City scene, finished third. Hilary Felton, Ali Salomon and Bristol Sorenson finished fourth, fifth and sixth for Park City. Lewis added a 10th place finish for the locals. In the JII (ages 14-15) boy's competition, Park City's Jacob Doilney mustered a third-place finish behind Ogden Valley's Bron McCall and John Vanvleet, who were first and second respectively. Matt Golden was seventh and Chris Nelson 27th. On the girl's side Bridget Leschorn was second after the first run, but she hooked a tip and fell on the second run. Romark swept the category with Hilary Lindh, Kristina Kjeldsberg and Kristine Wamba finishing one-two-three. |
