Show Brass Ensemble to Perform at Univ cis Poulenc's "Sonata," also in three movements. The concluding selection will be the Trombone Choir's rendition of Walter S. Hartley's "Canzona for Eight Trombones." The concert is open to the public free of charge, Prof. Sharp said. Two mixed brass groups and one large trombone choir will perform in a University of Utah Brass ensemble concert in Gardner Hall 200 Monday (Feb. 28) at 8 p.m. "Brass groups are again coming into their own," according to Director Carson Sharp, "so we have put together an evening the taps the roots of Baroque and other periods. This concert gives us a rare opportunity to shine at something other than incidental music." Program selections will include five works edited from the Baroque period by Joel Blahnik and the "Vin-centian "Vin-centian Trombone Mass," arranged by Paul Severson and Mark McDunn. These two sections will be performed perform-ed by the Trombone Choir. The second section, to be performed by the Brass Quartet, will include Bach's "Fervent is My Longing," arranged by Lucien Cailliet, and Alan Houhaness' "Shar-agan "Shar-agan and Fugue."
