Show Pioneer Memorial Opens 'Fanny "This is the first time it's been produced on any stage in the Intermountain West," said Director Keith Engar about the poignant musical, "Fanny," that plays through March 5 at Pioneer Memorial Theatre in Salt Lake City. "Perhaps it's because it's a very big show with a cast of over 40, 16 scene changes and a large orchestra," he continued. "Fanny" is the musical version of a trilogy by the French playwright Marcel Pagnol. The book is by S.N. Behrman and Joshua Logan and the music and lyrics by Harold Rome. It opened on Broadway in 1954 and enjoyed a two year run. It was made into a movie (starring Leslie Caron, Charles Char-les Boyer and Maurice Chevalier) shortly thereafter. This is the first time a full scale stage production has been presented anywhere in this area. Richards, Oscar Rowland and the PMT Company. Evelyn Bartholomew is the Musical Director, Jayne Luke is Choreographer, Carol Wells-Day has designed design-ed the costumes and Peter L. Willardson is Lighting Designer. De-signer. Settings are based on the original designs (created for the 1954 Broadway production) of the late Jo Mielziner. Fanny will play through March 5 at Pioneer Memorial Theatre - on the University of Utah Campus - in Salt Lake City.
