Show i break-in fails An attempted burglary was reported Feb. 13 at the Woodhaus sporting goods store at 1240 Park Ave. Although the burglars never gained entry to the shop, $250 in damage was caused in the attempt. money taken Santa Monica, Calif., resident Elizabeth Kolaczia reported the theft of $250 from her Shadow Ridge hotel room. She told officers the money was in her wallet hidden in a drawer. Police think an acquaintance may be the culprit. The thief left $50 behind. same m.o. Samuel Vitkoski of Sausalito, Calif., reported the theft of $40 in cash from his wallet at his Shadow Ridge hotel room. The thief left an additional $40 in the billfold. Vitkoski feels the money was taken while he was in another room in his unit. camera copped A color video camera valued at $1,000 was taken from a display case at the Park Video store in Holiday Village Mall. The theft was reported Feb. 10 by Jeff Oaks. sudsy flood The laundry room at the Iron Horse condos was damaged to the tune of $90 Feb. 10 by vandals who disconnected a washing machine drain hose, turning loose a tlood of soapy water. coins clipped Between $300 and $600 in change was taken by thieves Feb. 8 who broke into three video games at the Holiday Inn. The theft was reported by night supervisor Bill Dieken who gave officers the descriptions of three juvenile suspects. spicy water Officers were called to the Shadow Ridge hotel Feb. 9 to assist a Scotsdale, Ariz., man who had an unpleasant experience with a glass of water. Peter Linsey told the police he drank a glass of water and it burned the roof of his mouth and caused chills. Officers, baffled by the report, concluded further medical attention was not necessary. car burglary A parka, gloves, hat and vest were reported taken from Christopher Saal's car Fetpi. 8. Thieves broke a window to enter the locked vehicle. The missing items were valued at $225. no one to help John Huish of Salt Lake told officers Feb. 12 he heard a male voice call "help" in the vicinity of the 1300 block of Norfolk. The police were unable to locate the troubled person. more car windows smashed Skis, bindings, poles and tapes valued at $390 were taken from John Lehmer's car Feb. 13. Lehmer's vehicle was parked in Swede Alley when thieves broke in through a window. malicious mirror James Louis Ludwig was struck by a moving vehicle on Main St. Feb. 12. Jake Wismar said he didn't see Ludwig when he stepped into the street from between two parked vehicles in front of the Cowboy Bar. Ludwig was apparently caught by the side mirror of Wismar' s car, spun around and knocked down, according to the police report. Ludwig was treated for bruises and scrapes and released from the Family Health Clinic. another auto burglary Two cameras and a zoom lens valued at $850 were taken from Loel Labberton's locked car Feb. 15 while it was parked in the underground lot at the Shadow Ridge hotel. A window was broken to gain access to the valuables. more again Fifty cassette tapes and two cases of beer valued at $522 were removed from George Napier's vehicle Feb. 15. The car was parked in Swede Alley when thieves broke a window to enter the vehicle. |
