The ore country, the objective of the past three years work, is being penetrated, and the ore bodies believed to be within "shooting distance," with a capable force of miners pushing the tunnel ahead at the rate of 275 feet a month. It is only reasonable to expect something good and big in the near future hence the keen interest in circulating rumors. 99 Years Ago ... From the Park Record Feb. 7, 1930 DAD'S COLUMN By "Dad" From Alhambra, Calif., Feb. 7, 1930: We are now one-fourth through the second se-cond month of 1930. If crime continues tc increase as it has the past year and jail punishmem meted out to criminals, it will require almost as many federal and state prisons tc accommodate them as there are school buildings for the education of the young. We must confess that at this season of the year this section of Southern California, Califor-nia, at least, is wonderfully delightful. It seems impossible impos-sible to believe it is mid-winter, and that in out' home locality deep snows, blizzards and freezing weather wea-ther prevails while here it is clear skies, warm sunshine and climatically perfect blooming flowers, budding trees, growing plants and pretty gardens at every turn. Thursday of last week, Dr. and Mrs. L.H. Raddon, with their Park City "boarders" motored to Ontario, thirty-five thirty-five or forty miles east of Alhambra. It was a most pleasing and delightful drive. The prettily located and generally prosperous cities, ranging in population perhaps from 500 to 50,000, " passed through were: Rose-mead, Rose-mead, El Monte, Bassett, Puenta, Walnut, Otterbein, Spadra, Pomona, Monte Vista, etc. From reports, rumors and murmurings from Utah people peo-ple of certain information having unintentionally slipped slip-ped out, leads "Dad" to the belief that something good and big has happened, or about to happen, in the verv near future at the Star of Utah property. It seems to be the general opinion from those heard from that there is a "hen on" of some sort and when the hen cackles, there will be something worth cackling about. So if you have Star of Utah stock better hold on to it for it will be the fellow who got cold feet and let go his holdings who "kicks himself." him-self." The "lid," now holding down good news from this property is liable to be blown off any time, so don't get impatient and make a "wild jackass" of yourself. |
