Show Hot Tub Arraignment Postponed Bill Groves, a former Park City resident charged with three counts of theft by deception decep-tion regarding the sale of hot tubs here, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in third district court, however, the arraignment was postponed because be-cause Groves' attorney, Gil Athay, was preoccupied with another case this week. Assistant Summit County At- l torney Terry Christiansen said the arraignment would more than likely take place either Dec. 18 or Jan. 1. Mr. Athay was in the process pro-cess Monday of staying the execution of another one of his clients. Dale S. Pierre, one of two men convicted in the killings of three persons at Ogden's Hi-Fi Shop. . Bill Groves allegedly promised pro-mised to install hot tubs for Gump and Ayers employee Anne Clark and developer Jack Johnston last summer, but did not follow up on the installation installa-tion after he had already received substantial amounts of money from Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Johnston as down payment. pay-ment. Each theft by deception charge is in excess of $1,000, thereby resulting in third degree de-gree felonies which are punishable pun-ishable by one to five years in prison and up to $5,000 fine for each charge. Should Mr. Groves plead not quilty at the arraignment, a trial date will then be set. |
