Show Woodwind Quintet at KAC April 24 Park City audiences will have. the opportunity to listen to a rare and infrequently heard musical medium, the woodwind quintet, in a free concert at the Kimball Art Center Thursday. April 24 at 8pm. The Salt Lake Chamber Winds, originally known as 'he Young Audiences Woodwind Wood-wind Quintet, is attempting to acquaint the public with a wide variety ot woodwind quintet literature. The concert at the Art Center will include material from the 18th centurv tothel950s. The quintet is comprised of musicians who have studied and performed around the world. The musicians are Karen Perkins (flute). Holly Gornik (oboe). Sonia Higbee (clarinet), Mitch Morrison (bassoon).' and Karl Hereim (French horn). . The Salt Lake Chamber Winds, as the recipient of state and city grant and trust fund monies, is currently involved in a concert series which will travel around the state. The quintet hopes their performances will help familiarize fam-iliarize the general public with the group of instruments which makes up the woodwind section of the symphony orchestra. |
