Show Athenaeum Honors Girl Graduates May 19, 1975, the Ladies Athenaeum entertained the girl graduates of Park High and their mothers at the annual an-nual tea given in their honor Twelve girls and their mothers moth-ers were pr es e nt ed to the club members. The table decorations were a centerpiece of red carnations, white baby breath and ferns. The carnations carn-ations were made into corsages cor-sages which were presented to each girl. Red tapers added to the decorations. Mark Lindsay entertained with two numbers, accompanying accom-panying himself on the guitar. Mrs. Harolsen introduced the speaker, Mrs. Elaine Smart of the Community Services Ser-vices Council of the Volunteer Volun-teer Action Center. Her theme was "A ship in the harbor har-bor is safe." A basis for her timely remarks stating "At graduation you have learned how to learn." She likened our lives to harbors, we should be able to put into port in times of stress. Volunteer activities provide opportunities for a choice of fields of endeavor and a sense of accomplishment results re-sults from serving people. The nobility in woman is a result of the capacity one has for serving. Mrs. Smart advised ad-vised the girls to look for a way to serve. The world needs you and your enthusiasm. enthus-iasm. Valerie Pratt was the recipient re-cipient of a fine collegiate dictionary. This is an annual award by the Athenaeum to a student recommended by the High School faculty. The graduates attending were: Faye Alvey, Xesca Armengel, Michele Evans, Jan Florence, Debbie Goff, Stephanie Haralson, Christine Chris-tine Kummer, Deborah Mc-Naughton, Mc-Naughton, Collette Makeoff, Dorothy M a r c el 1 in, Helen Marcellin, Valerie Pratt. Bi-Centennial pins were presented to each girl by Eleanor Bennett. |
