Show Lodging Association Spends Big According to Park City Lodging Association President Dale Nelson, Park City lodges have spent as estimated $130,000 for advertising this year. This figure does not include matching funds, or the Ski Corp's $25,000 participation with the Lodging Association. Summit County Commissioner Mel Flinders attended the Lodging Lodg-ing Association meeting on Nov. 1 to discuss a transient room tax which the county has the authority to impose. On Jan.l, this tax was increased from 1 Vi to 3. These taxes, paid by each lodge guest, are specifically for the purpose ot promoting tourism and convention busines. 70 of Park City's transient room tax goes to Summit County, and 30 to the Mountainlands Association, a regional division of the state government. Lloyd Stevens, Mel Flinders, Ray Johnson, Bill Shorter, and Coy Page are on the Summit County Board to oversee the spending of this money. Mountainlands Director Darrel Cook reported that Summit County contributed 42.5 of the Mountainlands funds for 1975. Utah and Wasatch Counties contributed the balance. This year's advertising budget is $50,900, with $5,000 of this being committed to the Utan Ski Co-op. The Summit County Travel Council will have $47,000 to spend this year. $7,000 has been allocated for the state ski promotion co-op, and a portion will be spent on manning the information center at Echo. This will leave approximately $31,000 that can be spent on advertising and Promotion. |
