The plaque, which is signed by Governor Rampton, was jointly accepted by City Recorder Bruce Decker and Councilwoman Eleanore Bennett, at the Utah Community Progress Awards Banquet held Friday night at Salt Lake's Hilton Hotel. Judges, rated 74 Utah communities com-munities according to their respective progress made in the fields of planning, people, services, ser-vices, environment and economy. Judges focused on the number fc of people and organizations v involved in each of the areas of " special progress and when they were in Park City recently, seemed impressed with the extent of community participation. participa-tion. "This award goes out to all the people who helped Park City in some way or another during the past two years," said Miss Bennett, "and that takes in pretty well everyone." Park City was visited by the judges on an active day which saw not only the Main Street filming of Sun Classic's new movie, but also the moving of the Senior Citizen's new building from . Keetley. Bruce and Eleanore first heard about the contest in July. Mr. s Decker immediately realized Park City as a potential winner and set to work preparing a presentation. He compiled a scrapbook primar- K ily of news clippings from the - k Park Record, which chartered the k city's progress over the last two k years, and presented it to the s community progress judges. However, it was a last minute attempt compiled only weeks before the contest deadline while other communities probably worked years on their presenta- tions. "Well we can just start working right now towards first prize in the next two years," concluded Miss Bennett. |
