Show Lights Please Saturday evening at approximately 10:30 p.m. Stephanie San Fillippo of New York City was struck by a car on lower Park Avenue and seriously injured. According to the police report Miss San Fillippo received re-ceived head lacerations and a possible legfracture. She was rushed to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake where she received medical attention. Miss Fillippo was walking northbound on the East side of the street when the accident occurred. That particular portion of Park Avenue has long been recognized as a dangerous area. Several years ago a person was killed on that particular portion of Park Avenue under circumstances very similar to those of the recent accident. Poor street lighting makes it difficult for motorists to see pedestrians walking to and from the Main Street area. Also sidewalks in that area are in extreme disrepair dis-repair or non existant which in many cases literally forces pedestrians off the designated sidewalks and into the street. During the winter months when pedestrian as well as automobile traffic is the heaviest, the sidewalks are practically impassable making the street the only vehicle of pedestrian traffic. |
