Show Help, Police! Hey, That's Us! It shouldn't happen in Park City," said one of the officers of-ficers involved in ttie case. But it does, even in sleepy P.C. What shouldn't happen ANYWHERE is a police car being stolen no less right out from under the officers operating the vehicle. But at 2:15 last Thursday morn, Officers Of-ficers Mike Crowley and Pete Martinez left their keys in their car and the motor running while they made a routine check of the bars in Park City. They parked outside out-side the C'est Bon Hotel and returned to the sight where they thought they'd parked the car only to find it gone. At first we thought it was a prank," said Officer Crowley. Crow-ley. "We thought we'd find it around the corner." "We looked around for about five minutes -and then we called it in," said Pete Martinez. For nearly three hours a search ensued, but their panic ended when an irate member of the Park City community phoned at 5:45 to say there was an abandoned police car blocking his driveway, delaying him for a tennis game at 6:30 that morning. "The police were there in a few seconds," said Ann Prince. Her husband found the car. Everything was found intact. Nothing had been stolen except the keys which have yet to be found. What did the Mayor have to say about all this? "OOOO," said Officer Crowley. "Let's just say they weren't pleased." pleas-ed." Apparently not, for both men have been docked three days pay for their mistake, and are taking a good ribbing from their friends. "Do you have your keys," they jest with Mike. He answers-after answers-after he hears them clink "Right here in my pocket!" |
