Med Banio Wins Ladies Tournament Park City's powerful Red Banjo Softball Team beat out Digger's Diner Sunday to clinche the Championship . Game, of the Annual Ladies Softball Tournament. This year six teams com-peted com-peted in the tough . tourna-. ment; three from Park City: ' Red : Banjo, Digger's Diner and Prospector Square; and three from out of town: Rice Paddy from Las Vegas, Sundance from Provo, and Mark's Lounge from Salt Lake. The ladies played regulation regula-tion softball throughout the three days of play Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Salt Lake Umpires ruling over the games. In the opening games Friday, Prospector. Square.-downed Square.-downed Mark's Lounge and ', "Digger's Dindr beat out Sundance; Sundance later lost again to Mark's Lounge. Saturday, the Banjo beat Diner narrowly aced out Prospector Square to clinche a play-off berth. Later in the day Digger's Diner lost to the Banjo; Mark's - Lounge lost ; to Rice Paddy; and vKpsjiecior : Square, : .lost to " Mark's Lounge. : : At the end of play Saturday, Prospector Square, Mark's Lounge and Sundance had been eliminated elimi-nated from the tournament I leaving Digger's Diner, Rice Paddy and Red Banjo in the play-offs. In the first game Sunday, Digger's knocked out Rice Paddy 10 to 8 to secure a place in the final game against Red Banjo. Because -the Diner had lost to Banjo on Saturday, they had to win ; two games against the Red , ; Banjo, which was undefeated eoine into the finals. In a tense first game of the finals, ; Digger's Diner narrowly nar-rowly won out over the Banjo in a low scoring 7 to 6 match. However, the Banjo came back in the next game of the double-header to clobber Digger's Diner 11 to 6 to clinche the Championship.
