Show Sports Award Banquet To Be Held At High School Nov. 19 Park City High School will sponsor the "First Annual Fall Sports Award Banquet" Saturday, Satur-day, November 19, at 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the high school. Principal of Park City High School, Jack Dozier, said there will be various awards and certificates given to boys and girls, as well as a "potluck dinner" which will be prepared-by prepared-by many of the parents of the athletes. The girls varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams will be awarded and also boys varsity and junior varisty football teams. There will also be 9 special awards given to the football and volleyball teams. The Booster Club will donate a trophy to the Most Valuable Player in football. The trophy is named after Jack McKissick, a-former a-former resident in Park City who excelled in athletics and went on to make great achievements on the field at the University of Utah. The Elk's Lodge of Park City will give a trophy to the Most Outstanding Sportsman. An Outstanding Leadership trophy will be given by Park City Chamber of Commerce. And Park City High school will give the Captain of this year's football team a trophy. A most Valuable Lineman trophy will also be awarded at the banquet. Girl athletes will receive awards from The Boosters, the Elk's, and also PTSA (Parent TeacherStudent Association). The girls will be recognized for Most Valuable Player, Sportsmanship, Sports-manship, and Athletic Leadership in Volleyball. An Athletic Banquet committee was formed in order to organize the event, prepare food, and arrange the necessary facilities. The committee is made up of Mary Eley, Willow Gebauer, Elaine Jarvis, Jesse Johnson, Connie King, and Jenean Bair. Dr. Dozier said that approximately approxi-mately 250 people are expected to attend the fall banquet which is not open to the public and be invitation only. Dozier explained there was not enough room in the multi-purpose area to accomodate over 250 people. Members of the football team and volleyball team are invited, along with their parents and 1 guest for each player. Well-known sportscaster. Bill Orwig, will be guest speaker for the banquet. Everything for the fall athletic banque will be donated from families within the community, and there will be no charge to attend, said Jack Dozier. "I'm a big one on honoring kids. Let them have their moment in the sunshine. I think you have to do this to keep them motivated." Dozier said. Dozier said that so far, the entree for the dinner includes beef, fried chicken, turkey, and ham. The principal at the high school said a winter sports banquet will also be held with awards going out to basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling. Both girls and boys will be recognized for their athletic achievements. |
