Show Weaving Project Highly Enjoyable Experience Mrs. John (Annette) Alger's third grade class has been studying about clothing in a social studies unit. Some of the activities during this time have included examining examin-ing cotton balls, unwinding silkworm silk-worm cocoons, learning to knit and the girls tried designing fashions for paper dolls. The girls put on a fashion show and the boys in the class created a bulletin board with pictures of uniforms that people wear. Probably the most enjoyable experience during their studies was a weaving project. To help the children understand the terms warp (the threads running run-ning the long way in cloth) and weft (the threads running across the warp threads), they made cardboard looms and wove hot dish pads. Lt. to rt. Nicolas Caravaglia, Troy Putman, Terri Sproule, Camille Luttmer are shown weaving on their looms. ( f r .;r ? i ' I i i ?
