Show Main Stieet Improvement Plan Decisions Reached Approximately 35 property owners and interested parties attended the Main Street Improvement Im-provement Committee meeting held Tuesday evening, Don Millicam, Main Street Improvement Chairman, conducted con-ducted the session, which saw a number of ideas considered for developing Park City's main thoroughfare. Mr. M:llicam suggested the entire Improvement Plan be regrouped re-grouped and considered. A one step at-a-time approach was taken with regards to installation installa-tion of street lights, asphalt sidewalks, etc. Every item previously planned plan-ned for the improvement of Main Street proper did not receive re-ceive approval from those assembled. as-sembled. The group did favor improving improv-ing parking on Swede Alley and beautification of alley ways leading to Main Street from Swede Alley. A study revealed 415 parking spaces are currently available in the Main Street area. Development De-velopment of Swede Alley would provide an additional 285 spaces. This would create a total of 700 parkingslots. PlanT ners estimate 830 will be needed. Leon Uriarte and Bud Gas-parac, Gas-parac, both Park City residents and Main Street property owners, own-ers, will contact City Council- ' men to determine how far the city could go with regards to providing revenue to assist in installation of the parking im-. im-. provement project. Gene Carr of the Architects Planners Alliance was present and was directed to see what could be done in line with a $75 thousand cost figure. An additional $10 thousand was scheduled for possible alley beautification. The group voted down rock curb and gutter and preferred concrete curb and gutter for the parking area. Present plans call for aa assessment of $1.00 per square foot to the property owners to meet improvement costs. Next meeting of the Main Street Improvement Group is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Building. |
