Show as far away as Columbus, Ohio; St. Paul, Minnesota; and New York, New York. They were housed in university dormitories dormitor-ies and invited to mingle with their dormmates. They were given a brief orientation to campus cam-pus Friday and then talked with college deans and department heads in fields of their choice. The examinations Saturday helped university officials decide de-cide which students will become University Scholars and receive re-ceive the $5,000. A similar number of high school seniors attended a testing session the previous weekend. Colleen, daughter of Mr. and Colleen Flannery Wins High Honor LOGAN Colleen Flannery , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Flannery, Flan-nery, former residents of Park City was among 200 outstanding outstand-ing high school seniors who spent February 9-10 at Utah State University acquainting acquaint-ing themselves with the Logan campus, meeting faculty members mem-bers and taking competitive examinations. ex-aminations. The students from throughout through-out the United States were competing com-peting for five University Club Scholarships worth $5,000 each. They received invitations to the examinations because of high ratings they received on ACT and National Merit tests. Students came to Logan from Mrs. John S. Flannery, Hyde Park, achieved Honor Roll her junior and senior years. She lias earned an Art scholarship and has had schooling in England Eng-land and travel experience in Great Brit i an, France and Africa. She has won creative writing awards and published a photo article in a national magazine. mag-azine. Colleen formerly lived with her parents in Park City. |
