Show Park Students Find Reading Very 9wm Twenty young Park City students stu-dents found themselves pleasantly pleas-antly surprised Monday morning morn-ing at the opening session of the Summer Reading Program. "Why can't school be like this all the time?" one sixth grader asked. Lacking were roll calls, grade books, lessons and teachers teach-ers dirty looks. There were, however, plenty of books, Books about everythingfrom race cars and cooking to mysteries and science fiction. Stimulating books of the youngsters own choosing along with games, contests, prizes and special activities promise to make this summer exciting and profitable for these lucky young people. The program will run from June 19 to July 21 with reading skills being developed to help the children get a head-start when school starts in August. The Marsac students arrive at the High School earlv at 8 a.m, and give way to Jr. High and High School students at 10. A special invitation to take advantage of this opportunity is extended to those parents who wer e contacted, but haven't yet encouraged their children to come. You'll find two hours a day for five weeks this summer sum-mer well worth the time. Norm Miller. |
