Show FRIENDLY HIPPO CALLS TO KIDS Fussy eaters are usually made, not born. Tastes vary, it's true. But when foods are offered to children attractively, mealtime is turned into fun and they are apt to eat anything placed before them. This lunch is particularly appealing. A friendly cheese and olive hippo, traced from a cut-out design from a paper plate, smiles a welcome. The cut-out can also serve as a place card if you pencil in your youngster's name. The animal magic of this lunch is obvious "Funny Friends" designs decorate all the Dixie paper tableware from the docile lion on the cup to the dessert dish in which the apple pudding was baked. APPLE STREUSEL PUDDING Pudding Topping 6 medium size green or other V4 cup firmly packed dark cooking apples, peeled, cored brown sugar and sliced 2 tablespoons flour 'A cup raisins 2 teaspoons cinnamon xh cup sugar 2 tablespoons butter or 1 cup (V4 pint) heavy cream, margarine unwhipped Vi cup chopped nuts Mix apples, raisins and sugar. Spoon into six 7-ounce Funny Friends paper dessert dishes. Divide cream among dishes. Combine topping ingredients until crumbly and sprinkle over apples. Place dishes on baking sheet and bake in a preheated moderate oven (350 F.) for 35-40 minutes or until apples are easily pierced. (NOTE: Do not bake at higher temperature when using paper dessert dishes.) If desired, after cooling, wrap closely and freeze until hard. When ready to serve, unwrap and thaw at room temperature for one hour. Makes 6 servings. Pudding can be served topped with ice cream. |
