GOVERNOR INVITED TO ATTEND MEETING Spry Is Urged to Be Present at Important Im-portant Conference of Executives. Exe-cutives. Salt Lake, Nov. 2. Urgent request for the appearance of Governor William Wil-liam Spry at the meeting of western governors at San Francisco on November Novem-ber 17 have been received from Governor Gov-ernor J N. Gillett of California, but Governor Spry has not yet had an opportunity op-portunity to answer them. Governor Spry will probably be back In his office of-fice today or Thursday, when this and other Important matters will be taken up. The chief executive of l"Ah has Won urged to attend the conference, both by letter and telegram, and Governor Gov-ernor Gillett states that practically all of the other governors of the coast and intennountain states will attend. Tho purpose of the San Franc!se) conference of governors Is to consider subjects vital to thy west, but especially espe-cially to the coast. Ono will be th! me-rchfint marine, another will be the petitioning of congress for more battleships bat-tleships for the defense of the Pa-cf Pa-cf tic coast, and the goernors will also tnke action in regard to the propose! exposition in 1912. to mark the opening open-ing of the Panama canal. It is proposed pro-posed to make the congress an annual affair.
