July 22 Alter weeks of delay, the automobile ordinance ! was finally completed by the committee com-mittee of the w hole Thursday eveu.ng j at the meeting of the city couucll and was prepared for final passing at the ! session next Friday night. There were few provisions left for consider- ; ation Thursday evening, the chief I po.nts covered being the following: j Motorcycles must pay a license of $3 a year. ; Bicycles and motorcycles are barr-I barr-I ed from the sidewalks. I Mufflers must be attached to motor- i cycles, - I Vehicles unattended by drivers must ' not be left standing wiibln 10 feet I of any lire hydrant. - : It will be unlawful for an intoxicated intoxi-cated person to drhe any vehicle througt the streets of the citv . Drivers of automobiles and motor- cycles must bo over the age of lti years Electric machines may uo a hell instead of a horn to -ound warnings. Samuel M. Barlow, chief ot police, suggested that no automobiles be permitted per-mitted lo staud for more than the minutes in the congested bu.ncss district, dis-trict, but no action was taken on the proposal. ' The law ends with the penalty for i violation of any of its provisions a maximum of $209 or an equivalent numbor of days in jail. |
