Show ADVERTISE THE CANYON. It has been suggested that a movement for the better advertising adver-tising of Ogden Canyon be started this Fall, having in view the drawing to the beautiful gorge a great tourist travel next year. In early spring, when Ogden River is a raging torrent, sweeping sweep-ing over the immense boulders in the bed of the stream, foaming and roaring there is a charm in the canyon no where else to b found alongside a trolley line within a few minutes' ride of a city the size of Ogden. In early summer, when the wild fiowers are lending their fragrance fra-grance to the balsam of the pines, and the birds are carolling, once you have entered the portals of the gorge there is a desire to remain and enjoy the paradise, where Nature, throwing off restraints, bids one to discard all cares. In Autumn these Autumnal days when the hand of an unseen artist is coloring the hillsides with the richest hues of the wildwood, there is no salon of Paris, no art gallery of a Morgan, to compare with the paintings in the deep ravines and back of the cliffs in Ogden canyon. Sunday, if the weather is as delightful as today, a ride on the cars to the canyon will make every Ogdenite fervently hope that the day will come when countless thousands of the city folks, who live so far from contact with Nature in all its naturalness, may have the opportunity' of feeling the thrill inspired by the canyon scenery. And the way to proceeed to let others know the grandeur of our Ogden canyon is to organize a well directed campaign of advertising adver-tising not next year, but now, in time for the tourist travel of next year. All companies conducting excursions, all places visited by tourists tour-ists and all large hotels in the larger cities should be supplied with literature and half-tones of Ogden canyon. But, first of all, we must get a distinctive name for the canyon. There are many canyons in this western country, but there is only one gorge as impressive as that through which the Ogden Rapid Transit company has its street car line. |
