Show FRE DESTROYS I A barn In which a quantity of hay was stored and a garage in which there was a valuable automobile, belonging be-longing to Sam Browning at 564 Twenty-seventh street, was totally destroyed by fire shortly before midnight mid-night la?t evening. Members of the Browning family were awakened by the glare fr..m the burning building and the heavy smokj caused by the burning hay. An alarm was Bent in and the apparatus from station Nu. 1 re3pouded prompt-When prompt-When the fire department reached the burning building it was nearly consumed. The hay and about five gallons of gasoline furnished inflam-able inflam-able material to quicken the work of the flames. A chicken coop adjoining adjoin-ing the barn was also destroyed and a building In the next yard was badl) scorched. A number of chickens were released releas-ed from Ihe coop and escaped. The lire Is believed to have originated origin-ated from a cigarette btump or a lighted match thrown by some trespasser tres-passer who had gone to the baru to sleep. The building and Its contents are a total loss, with the exception of $300 insurance on the automobile. |
