Show HONEY IS HEEDED TO EXTEND WORK SALT LAKE, Dec. 11 The Utah Archaeological society will go before the coming legislature with u request that an appropriation be made for the extension of work among the ruins of fhe prehistoric people In the southeastern south-eastern corner of Utah, where, for a number of years, work has been conducted con-ducted under the direction of tho society. so-ciety. Protected by a s'ate law which made It Illegal for any one to deface ruins or to tako relics from the state, the society has done a great work In the preservation :f the cliff dwellings and. pueblos. The legislature appropriated appro-priated some money two years ago and this was consumed in the exhaustive exhaust-ive search among the ruins. Tho result has been that the stale museum has been given an impetus by the addition of scores of rare treasures taken from the ancient dwellings In the San Juan country. Lust night a meeting of the executive execu-tive board of tho society was hold at the home of Bishop F. S Spalding, at which time It was decided lo call a meeting for the annual election of officers. The meeting will be held at the homo of W. W. Rlter uext Saturday Sat-urday night and all members of tho Utah branch of the American Institute of Archaeology are requested to bo present. |
