Show fOSFCIT GAME. TO SALT LAKE Salt Iake, Aug. l. The Occidentals Sunday afternoon forfeited their league game to the Salt Lake team, by refusing to abide by Umpire White's decisions. The umpire had fined Manager Frank Black of the Occidentals Oc-cidentals ?5 and ordered him to the bench for using abusive language, whereupon Black called his men from the field. The umpire then declared the game forfeited to the Salt Lake team by the score of 0 to 0. , In order that the large crowd of fans who went to Walker's field to see the game might not be disappointed, the Salt Iake team consented to continue con-tinue the game from the point where the dispute arose as an exhibition game with another umpire. Thereupon There-upon McAndrews was put In as umpire um-pire and the game was continued as an exhibition game. The Occidentals won this game by a score of S to 3. Decision Disputed. The dispute arose in the second inning, in-ning, when I'm pi re White called Costello Cos-tello safe at third. Costello was attempting at-tempting to sneak from second to third. He was almost there when the steal was discovered by Pitcher Mooney for the Occidentals ' Mooney apparently had Costello by about three feet, but the latter made a quick duck and in the opinion of the umpire reached third without being be-ing touched out. When the umpire pronounced the runner safe, the Occidentals Occi-dentals at once raised a storm of protest pro-test Frank Black was particularly vehement In protesting the decision. According to the umpire, Black used profane and abusive language. After warning Black, the umpire ordered him out of the game and fimnj him $o. Biack then called In his team and told the umpire he would forfeit the game rather than continue. The umpire um-pire then declared the game forfeited to Salt Lake by a score of 9 to ft. At the time the dispute arose the score stood 1 to 1.. Salt Lake's score came In the first Inning. Dauny Dono-an Dono-an got to first while Lane was fumbling fum-bling a fast grounder. Nevlns put one in the same place, advancing Donovan. Don-ovan. Bock hit out a long sacillice fly and Donovan scored on the throw-in. throw-in. The Occidentals also got a score in the first. Black started off with a jingle, nut was forced out at second on Hawkins' grounder to Costello. Hawkins stole second and scored on Langford's single.
