George Williams, a negro living at Fourth avenue and C. street, was aricsted by Sergeant Beckstend and Patrolmen Bush and Pierce Sundav night, charged with wife-bent ing. According to the police, I the Williams case Is one of the most I llagrant that has ever come to the notice of the department When the police arrived at tho house, in response to the telephone me-jsages of tho wife and the neighbors, neigh-bors, they found Mrs. Williams In a most pitiable plight. Tier teeth had been knocked run and were scattered about the floor and her eyes were blinded, the surrounding flesh having been beaten and bruised until the swelling had closed the eyes She also complained of bruises atiout her body.
