Show OLD (MADE YOUNG. A San Francisco man, 70 years old, who believes he has recovered recov-ered the secret of longevity and rejuvenation, sends us the following statement of how ho has gained health and has revitalized his body. He has great faith in a simple system of exercising in bed, and says: "The secret of health, strength, elasticity of body and longevity Is simply muscular activity. The reason is this: When a muscle is contracted any worn out dead matter which may have been deposited at that point is forced out into the glandular and venous system, from whence it is carried off by the excretions of the body. When that muscle is relaxed the action of the heart forces a fresh supply of blood and tissue building material to that muscle and with it that mysterious power, the vital principle, hence growth. "Any muscle so exercised, that is, alternately contracted and relaxed, re-laxed, increases in size, strength and elasticity, and any adjacent gland or organ shares in the improvement. This law applies to all parts of the body. If every muscle of the body is systematically cleared of dead cells and other clogging matter by this process, a general rejuvenation results, and this is the condition which I have obtained. . "For the encouragement of those who feel they are too old to try, remember that I did not commence these experiments until I had reached the age of 60, and that I was then physically an old man. My case is not one of physical preservation, but rather of physical phys-ical acquisition; hereditary antecedents were unfavorable, and from childhood up I was always delicate, inheriting the condition of my father, who died of consumption at the age of 42. I am not of a long-lived family, and at 53 there was no promise that I could ever obtain the health, muscularity, strength and elasticity of body which I now possess, repeating that the same success is possible to any one who will faithfully and persistently practice the methods." |
