Show SCHOOL BOARD HOLDSJEETIHG' At the regular city meeting of the board of education Friday night, the treasurer rouortod that the cash iu ( hand amounts to Dr. Coulter, chairman of the sanitary sani-tary committee, reported the cases of couLagloun diseases among the students stu-dents of the schools as follows: Scarlet Scar-let fever 7. measles 4, diphtheria 1, smallpox 2, ehickonpox 1; total, 15. It was decided by the board that the West Ogdeu school should bo placed under the dlrert supenlsion of the principal of the Grant school. The West Ogden school heretofore has been conducted independently of the Grunt school, but It has proven quite unsatisfactory, and It Is now thought best to consolidate It with tho larger school. A number of contractors' estimates for work done on the now high school building were submitted, tbo amounts allowed and warrants for the payment of tho same ordered drawn. At a previous meeting of the board It was determined that the finances of tho city schools would hardly juntuy the erection of a new building on Indian In-dian avenue and Twenty-third street thin year, and it was decided that the plan "should be abandoned. No fur ther action was taken in the matter Friday night, and it Is understood that no effort will be made to erect tho building until next year, when, it Is argued by some of the members of the board, it 'will be possible to put up I the new school. |
