Show COIHC EAST IN INTEREST OF ROAD President Bamberger, of the Salt Lake and Ogden railroad, will leavo for the East next Tuesday for the pur-I?o pur-I?o of making final arrangements for ;he electrification of his lnterurban read between Ogden nad Salt Lake. It Is reported that Mr. Bamberger, while In the East, will purchase 12 motor cars, each oG feet long. Six or these cars will be straight passenger coaches, modeled after the lnterurban lnterur-ban cars operating between Baltimore and Washington, and will be hand-romely hand-romely furnished on the Inside. Each coach will have four 100-horse-power motors, which , will afford sufficient suf-ficient power to haul trailers when tho patronage requires It. The cars will be here by July ready for use. The rail bonding equipment Is duo next week, and three gangs of men are already painting and setting tua poles, working south from Ogden, north from Bountiful and at Lagoon. Until the electrification, th road will bo operated as usual by steam, and afterward, the heavy freight work will bo done by steam during tho night, when the electric cars aro not running. run-ning. There will be no electric locomotives. loco-motives. The great Parker cut, south of the Weber river, has just been completed, com-pleted, and the fill to the north of tho cut Is about done. Soli and clay will be laid on the sldea of the cut to bind the sand, and vegetation will be grown there to make the ground solid. Tne overhead crossing of the Union Pacific Pa-cific tracks will probably be completed In CO days, and then the present grado crossing will bo done away with. Mr. Bamberger Is In excellent spirits over the promising prospects ot his road. He was Intending to leave for ihe East Sunday, but franchise mat-:ers mat-:ers with the elly council necessitated ! his remaining over until Tuesday. |
