The investigation of Sheriff Sharp was made at the request of property , owners In Main street and a number of other highways In the county. The protestants claim that the automobile paitles place no value on life of prop- l erty and have no regard for the law. Sheriff Sharp notlfiod the owners of the machines In his letters that they would be arrested for the second of- I fense and punished. Several of the letters were addressed to prominent I citizens. Sheriff Joseph Jo-seph Sharp has his stop-watch on the automobile scorchers and as a result he Is. sending eleven letters to the owners of automobiles who were out taking "'Joy rides" Sunday afternoon and evening. Within an hour Sunday afternoon ten automobiles were timed in lower Main street between Ninth and Twelfth South streets.
