Show ROOSEVELT LECTURE A SUCCESS EX-GOVERNOR BUCHTEL OF COL-, COL-, RADO DELIGHTS AUDIENCE. He Emphasizes Distinguished Ex-Prcs-ident's Integrity, Perseverance and Idealism. . Ex-Governor Henry A. Ruchtel of Colorado, who Is also chancellor of the University of Denver, wa-s cordially received last evening at the Methodist Metho-dist church hv a goodly number of the members of the .Methodist Brotherhood Brother-hood and others. In spite of inclement weather. Whlic Mr. Buchtel was the guest of the evening he was also tho entertainer in an excellent speech on the life of ex-President Roosevelt. The distinguished gentleman was introduced in-troduced bv Governor Spry in a few well chosen words. Mr. Huchtel'a speech was well rendered and was of much interest to the listeners. Ho spoke of Mr. Roc-evclt as a man of sterlinp qualities, emphasizing particu. larly rnls integrity, perseverance and his idealism. The object of the meeting was to raise a fund for the Methodist church tower and a handsome little sum was realized. Mr. Buchtel was - accompanied accom-panied by Rev. Frank Shaw of Ojrden, both pentlemen being the guests of Mr. and Mrs. MeCreery last night, under un-der whose hospitality thev took din- ner. Mr. Buchtel returned to Salt Lake this morning. Kx-Govcrnor Buchtel is well pleased with Utah and with Ogden, making the remark last evening that a visit here seemed very much like visiting with neighbors. He was not loath to state that the city has grown very much since last he was here and he foretells a bright future for Ogden and the state of Utah ' |
