The sudd. n collapse In the exchange value of the frans Is frightening tho public and financiers Into what may very easily become a panic flight from the depreciating depre-ciating standards. Italy's constitutional government capitulating beforo the Fascisti dictatorship, dictat-orship, seems llkoly to bw followed by a Socialist counter coup and bloody I civil strife Cold and starvation has descended early on Germany's despairing mll-j mll-j lions. Tho Balkans and eastern Europe I are seething w ith emotion and the Turks make their triumphant re-entry Unto Thrace on the heels of the Heeling Hee-ling Greek population. North, south, cast and west, the horizon can be scanned in aln for any olgn of any new sane leaders rising in any country. In every country, the people aro discouraged and disillusioned disillusion-ed and are ready to listen only to tho prophets of dlsosbur. It Is tho hour of triumph for the pessimist New wars, revolution and reaction are being preached on every hand to willing tars. Exactly what will i omo of this unrest un-rest and dcsplar Is Impossible to predict pre-dict but Europe seems trembling on tho edge of enormous events. |
