In an attempt at-tempt to check aheop rustling, which la boing carried on over tho Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho boundary line into Box Eldr county, a special committee from Box Elder county, headed by George, H Butler, has petitioned Governor Mabey for eelatance. They told tho governor that the rustling had grown to such proportions propor-tions as to become a menace to tho sheepmen In tho vicinity .nd asked relief Box Elder county, with a L" frontage on the Utah-Idaho bor-rder bor-rder line, la unable to handlo tho situation sit-uation with one sheriff and a aingle deputy now employed, and tho state of county finances, they said, waa such aa to make it inadvisable to employ em-ploy a larger force. Attorney General Harvey H. Cluff conferred with tho governor and the committee, and figured thorn that tho state would mako every effort to prosecute th rustlers. but beyond hla assurance both the governor and tho attorney told the committee tho state was in no position to offer aid having neither a state cnnstabularv nor funds with which to aid the county. |
