Carpentier was uot with Descamps. having left for Manchester early In the' day to give an exhibition. Dempspy was cheered by a large crowd, which included many women,' who vainly tried to get near him as his automobile started from the Wat erloo station. Newspaper men inter viewed him at the hotel, while photographers photo-graphers look numerous pictures of the champion. Denipsey declared he was glad to be in England and was grateful for his wonderful welcome. Jack Kearns. manager of the American pugilist, said he could not foresee any bouts in Eng land. |
