Show FOUND GUILTY OF SELLING CIGARETS SALT LAKE. Feb. 8 Carl A. Swm bob, a clerk employed by the rnitr-d j Cigar Stores company, was found pruil ty yesterday of BellinK a package of i cigareta. marking the first convlctoln obtained in Salt Lake for violation of ihe antlcigaret luw. Tho Jury returned its verdict before City Judge Ben Johnson after I" minutes' min-utes' consideration of the evidence. The defendant, wa.s released on his own recognizance, pending sentence, which will be Imposed today. C. N. Chriatansan, vice president of the No-Tobacco league of L'tah. was the complaining witness. Swenson testified that he had not to his knowledge sold the cigarets intro duced in evidence. He said he did not recall ever having seen Mr. Christen-sen Christen-sen in the store. Jurors were Edward S Tew, Frank, L. Beaty. J C. Anderson and S. O. j McKean. The case in which the united Cigar Stores company is charged with having hav-ing cigarets for purposes of sale at its' store at Slate and Third South slreets was laken under advisement by the court. |
