Show - ml Should We Join? I Quite a few of our patrons have asked us lately if we plan joining the newly organized Retail Merchants' Association. On the face of it, it would appear we would have no good reason for refusing. re-fusing. Yet when one goes into it thoroughly it is evident that the organization is predominated by I the leaders of the old grocery trust. We can see no good the organization will do the public individually indi-vidually or as a community. We have always been adverse to merchants organizing themselves for m protection against the consuming public. In the past this was the sole object. We fear the present or- I ganization will terminate likewise and for this reason we have turned a deaf ear to all courtesies and I invitations to become a member. During Past Years I Our stores have safeguarded the interests of the buying public whereever located. It has been, and I is at present, a case of our stores and lower prices on the one side. The organization with desires to f charge more on the other side. We reel it would be the one big success of the present organiza- tion could they induce us to affiliate with them and thus tie our hands as to price cutting, etc. We wish our patrons to understand that Skaggs will never join any organization of merchants, where there is the least likelihood of our liberties of running our own business according to our ideas, being be-ing hampered. Knowing such a condition would be a calamity to ourselves as well as our former loyal supporters. Visit Ogden's Independent Stores I ONION SETS, 2 QTS. 15c ' ALPINE MILK PRESERVED SWEET PICKLES I 9(. Perhaps he is jealous of the popular- I ity of our "cash and carry" stores. He has tried long and hard to attract attention, the wholesale way. When the new advertising law goes into effect and he changes the name of his store perhaps I his luck will change, too. If he adopts the "cash "cash and carry" plan we are sure he will revise I his methods and sell all items at a saving to the people instead of only a dozen leaders as at present I SKAGGS' I Government License G32932. |
