' tj In his ultimatum to Villa, tele- ' graphed today, Calles said: v- "I shall wait until May 25 to receive your final decision so as to be able to give tho necessary orders." Four Propoistlons. - ( On May 20 at Chihuahua, General Calles announced he submitted to Villa tlje following proposition: First That Villa declare his retirement retire-ment to private life. Second That with escort of 100 to 150 trusted followers Villa should go to Sonora and quietly wait until after the generaL elections are held in Mexico. Third After the elections Villa to retire to private life permanently, but with permission to go anywhere he pleased. Fourth Such of Villa's men as desired de-sired to remain in the army would be attached to Calles' own forces "for their own greater security " Villa Sends Reply. k The day after this proposition was " made to Villa, he telegraphed General j Calles ho would consult with his chiefs ' and communicate a decision within a ' few days.
