Apostle David BfcKay, general superintendent super-intendent of th Latter-day Saints Sunday schools in all the world, was presented with a gold watch and chain j by the Weber Stake Sunday schools at a special service held in the taber 'nacle at noon yesterday. The presentation pre-sentation was made in be-half of the Sunday schools by Supt. B. H. Goddard i of the Weber state as a token of appreciation ap-preciation for the services rendered to the Sunday .ohool by Apostle McKay. The presentation was made at a i special Christmas carol service which lai . 1 for one hour and at which flf-iieen flf-iieen hundred children were present 'and sang a number of carols. At the conclusion of the service Supt. Qod-dard Qod-dard told the children of the lon-years lon-years spent in Sunday school work by Apostle McKay. He had been devoted to the Sunday school cause practically all his life. He was a teacher in his( home ward at Huntsvllle. later a mem-' mem-' ber of the Weber state Sunday school board, then a member of the! general board and at the death of Free-! ident Joseph F. Smith was chosen as, I general superintendent. Prcccnted By Godrjard. "The spirit of Christmas," said Superintendent Su-perintendent Goddard, "prompts us to give and ihcy thought this a fitting time in which to experience the truth-; truth-; fulness of the saying. It is more blessed to give than to receive. We make this presentation to Brother Mc-Kay Mc-Kay as an appreciation of his devotion ! in the great Sunday school cause." Apostle McKay, in accepting the giftj 'was visibly affected and stated that he was overwhelmed. He felt he did not merit tin gift! He wanted to ac-jcept ac-jcept it as a token that those who pre-I pre-I sen ted it had iheir hearts centered lupen the Work and as a token of what 'they thought of tho Sunday school. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation apprecia-tion not only for the gift of the watch Ibut the good spirit that was keeping I alive the Sunday school work. The gift, he said, was not to an individual, but to a great cause. "There will come a time, said Apostle Apos-tle McKay, "when the wheels of this watch will stop because it was man made, and all man made things come to an end. But the spirit of appreciation apprecia-tion will live in my heart throughout eternity, long after earthly things have faded away. God bless you, Amen." Far Away on Judeas Plains," "With Wandering Awe the jWise Men Saw," "Hark, ihe Children Sweetly Sing" and "We Thank Thee I O God for a Prophet " j While the sinking by the entire assembly as-sembly of the. children was pleasing, . I perhaps there was nothing connected with the service that was more inspir-i inspir-i ing than the singing by the little tots of the kindergarten and primary de ipartmcnt who occupied seats in the choir loft. This choir of innocent chil dren sang praises to their God in three j carols, "Shine Out, Blessed Star,' "Christ mas Baby" nnd "O, Hush Thee, 'My Baby." The singing by the children chil-dren reflects great credit to tho choist !er& who have had them in training : during the pasi few weeks. McKay Talko.
