Show HINES GETS SIM DAYS li IICR TO RAISE MIL WAGES Threat of Strike Is Made by 300,000 Way Employes and Shopmen After Meeting DETROIT .Mich, Feb. 6 Formal jslstence that favorable action be taken 'upon demands of tho Maintenance of iWay Employes and Railway Shop Laborers La-borers for wage increases was decided upon by grand officers of the workers' brotherhood in conference here. The union officers adopted a resolution resolu-tion this morning instructing their committee in Washington to inform Director General HInes that sovon days will be allowed for action on their demands. Adoption of the resolution followed tho receipt of a telegram from Vice President J. D. Malloy, acting for the brotherhood in Washington, stating '.that the conferences with Mr. Hines i gave little promise of favorable action. ' While officers of the brotherhood j made It plain that failure of the Washington Wash-ington negotiations would mean an immediate im-mediate order for cessation of work by 30Q000 members, it was Intimated an appeal might bo taken to President Wilson as a last resort. The conference hero expects Vice President Malloy to make a personal report within tho next few days on the meeting with tho director general. oo |
