Show Chicago Butter Supply. The receplta of buttor at Chicago this summer have been greater than during any previous summer for several sev-eral years at least. From the first of May to tho middle of Auguat there were received over 652,000 tuba, which Is about fjO.000 tubs In excess of what waa received during the same period Inst year. During the summer of 18X8 092.001) tubs were recolvad, which was considered phenomenal at that time. In spite of this large supply this year the prices have hold up, due largely to the rapid growth In population popu-lation of the city snd the continued activity In business. It Is ropnrted that the home trade la largor than ever before and seems Inclined to take all thn first-class goods that come In. Studying the market one notlcoa that the only kinds of butter that do not soil woll are tho poorer grades, though they are disposed of at a low price. Thus "ladles" are quoted as "slow" In sale. "iJtdles" are produced by working work-ing over country buttor till It Is uniform uni-form In salt and coloring. It la poor In quality because It Is some dsys old before subjected to the reworking process. Ladle goods are neither a profit nor a credit to the termors. |
