President Wilson, in declaring that there is profiteering, has offered of-fered the country encouragement to believe that the high cost of liv-r liv-r j ing may be reduced. It has been a mooted question as to whether there was any exten-0 exten-0 sfvc profiteering, but the presideni undoubtedly spoke with full information in-formation and based his statements on facts gathered by federal agents who have been studying the food and clothing situation. Wherever there is monopoly or exorbitant profits, a government ax may be applied to chop down the sustaining props. The President suggests that goods released from storage bear the selling prices at winch they went into storage and all goods destined for interstate commerce carry the price at which they left the hands jj jA )f the producer. |
