Show OEMORSTS OF WEBER Ii C01EIT1 AT COURT HOUSE Resolutions in praise of the war activities ac-tivities of tho government were proposed pro-posed for acceptance this morning at the convention of the Democratic party par-ty hold in the court house, with delegates dele-gates from all precincts of the city and County attending. The conduct of the senior senator from Utah was especially espe-cially praised when the fact was recalled re-called that he had laid all feeling of partisanship aside and had declared that Woodrow Wilson had been God-given God-given to tho nation in its hour of crisis. The resolutions declared that none of the representatives of the state had failed to reflect glory and credit on Utah in the stand taken v.ith regard to the war and the participation participa-tion in it of the United States. Resolutions commending tho work in congress of Milton H. Welling and one the bench of the supreme court of tht- slate of Valentine Gideon weie drafted. Resolutions wero proposed commending com-mending tho notion of the last legis lature on the questions of prohibition, the co?rupt practices act, the industrials indus-trials commission and the inlliitive and rcterendum. and declaring t!ut the legislature had filled its pledges to the people and passed tho?e laws which tho Republican party had -o-fused for years to grant the pople. Economical Campaign. Another matter of prime impork'i'ce considered at iho convention was fie recommendation that the Democratic campa'sn committee meet and confer with the Republican campaign committee com-mittee with regard to the mattsr of economizing in the coming pol'tical campaign. Every effort shouid be rcadc at this time to reduce iac expenses ex-penses of political campaigns and prevent pre-vent the expenditure of time or lnoncv, it was pointed r.uL- . A resolution was proposed commending com-mending the county administration for its efficient work and especially praising prais-ing the work of the sheriff's depart- i meat -with regard to tho fearleas n-foi n-foi cement of the state prohibition law s. instructions wero given that resolutions resolu-tions be brought in favoring th2 adoption adop-tion of the three amendments before coiigrets Favor Union of Offices. A resolution was proposed favoring a urion of the city and county offices so that the affairs of both could be ad-m.'nistered ad-m.'nistered from ono center, and economy econ-omy and efficiency thus instituted. Tho meeting was presided over by State Senator Joseph Chez and Stuart P. Dobbs acted as secretary. Speeches were made by Mr. Dobbs and Gilbert Btlnap. Committees. The convention adjourned at noon , for recess. It is expected nominations will be considered at tho afternoon sessions, together with n variety of other business which is expected to come before the convention. |
