Muddy RucI, ,who was one of the Yankees' catchers until drafted into the army last sum-'mer sum-'mer is at his home in St. Louis on a I furlough. Since Ruel became a sol- dier he has been stationed at Camp jPike, Little Rock, Ark. The Yankee 'says that the baseball team representing repre-senting Camp Pike Is ono of the best in the country. It is composed entirely entire-ly of major league and minor league players and has beaten all coiners. The club is managed by Joe Slattery, who also covers tho first sack. Last season Joe was a member of the Memphis Mem-phis club of the Southern association. (Ray Schmandt, of the Robins, is cov-, cov-, cring second, and several boxmen who I made good showings in the Southern leagues make up the pitching staff. Ruel handles the box artists. |
