GUNNELL A telegram telling of the death Friday morning in Los Angeles An-geles of Mrs. Volney Gunnell, daughter-in-law of Judge V. C. Gunnell of Ogden, was received by Judge Gunnell late yesterday. Mrs. Gunnell was 33 years of age and a native of San Diego, CaL She had never been in Ogden. She is survived by her husband and one adopted child. County Clerk Miss Edith Read, well known and efficient young lady who has been employed in the county offices of-fices is being urged by her friends to announce herself as a candidate for county clerk on the Republican ticket. Attempted Suicide James F. Taylor, Tay-lor, an Ogden resident and railroad employe, em-ploye, attempted to commit suicide early last evening but happily was fplled by the services of Dr. E. M. Conroy, who was called In to attend hlni. It seems Taylor has suffered greatly of late from all health and, in a fit of despondency and while a friend, Gus Thorn, who had been nursing nurs-ing him, was absent from the room, the man attempted to open the arteries of his wrists with, a pocket knife. His condition is not consjjlered serious. Chester G. Herbst, of the railway mall service, has taken the place of Hercules H. Graham at the local office. of-fice. Mr. Graham has gone to the El Paso office. For State Senator Dr. Condon announces an-nounces to his friends that he is in the race for Republican nomination as state senator.
