!0. A. NEWELL DIES OF D. A. Newell passed away at his residence, 335 Twenty-sixth street at 12:30 o'clock, Saturday morning, of! pneumonia, following Influenza. He leaves to mourn his loss, his de-; voted wife, Florence E. Newell, a foster fos-ter daughter, Mrs. Stella Atkinson of Concord, Cal two brothers, Wm. R. Newell of Lebanon, Oregon, and Geo. W. Newell of Tulare City, Cal.. and one sister, Mrs. Linn Asay of Oakland, Cal. Mr. Newel was born Aug. 26, 1871 at Cram's Lauding, Cal., and he spent most of his life in California. Mr, and Mrs. Newell came here about a year ago last June from Oakland Oak-land and he accepted a position with the H. W. Jones Shoe Co.. of Ofiden. Mr. Newell was a prominent member of the local Homestead Brotherhood of American Yeomen in which ho and his wife made many friends. lie was also a member of the Knights of tho Maccabees arid of the leather workers union. Mrs. Newell, leaves Tuesday with the body of her husband for Modesto, Cal., where the funeral and interment will take place.
