Barker of the municipal munici-pal court today and the response he received from Monden Hall a man who has completely lost his nerve. Tho court, exercising a commendable mercy, sentenced the prisoner to thirty days wjth the understanding that, if he receives an offer of employment, em-ployment, the remainder of the sen-tenco sen-tenco will bo suspended. Hal has but one arm. Ho is not mentally unbalanced, but he is far from intellectually strong. Ho w.s born about 35 years ago at McComb, 111., and grew to manhood in St. Joseph, Jo-seph, Mo. For tho last fifteen years he has beon tossed and battered by tho varying whims of fate until he absolute' has lost oven' vestige of. courage. IIo admits it. He declared this morning that ho "didn't have a cent and was afraid ho would be unable un-able to get employment." Hall is the man who recently sot fire to a small shack at tho rear of the old Ogden hotel and then went to the police station and surrendered. He declared "ho was hungry and wanted some place to stay." He will bo kept at the jail until he gets a job. |
